Summer Reading List ’19

Currently Reading :

  • Rich Dad, Poor Dad – 75% complete
  • 12 Rules For Life – 25% complete
  • The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People -25% complete

The list consists mostly of self help books because I am trying to improve myself and change my habits for the better this summer :). However I am going to read some fiction this summer ( a few books I haven’t included in the list but I will do a review of my fav summer reads in the end of summer). My goal is to read one book a week 🙂 Hopefully I will finish most of these by the end of the summer. Happy reading!



Since the second half of the year began, I decided to reflect and review my year thus far, as well as make new goals and complete my old ones…. I think this year have been a drastic improvement from the past year however I still want to travel more and improve the financial aspect of my life as well improve my GPA 🙂 I have always wanted to make a vision board however I have never tried to make one until today lol. Overall it was a very inspiring, motivating and fun experience!

I might make a part 2 of this because I don’t think I covered everything and it was actually so fun to make!!

Moving On/ Moving Out

In October 2018, I was starting to get severely depressed. I have had severe depression in the past so I knew the starting signs. Truth be told, I have always felt trapped in my childhood home, with my loving yet manipulative and controlling mother. I couldn’t maintain any friends due to my mother never letting me leave the house (I was 20) and due to my mom controlling my every move, the only way I would get any wiggle room was to lie. It was a miserable life, pushing me to make questionable choices, friendships and relationships. After all, I just wanted to feel loved and cared for. After many traumatic events and my mental health declining I decided to make a rash choice. Move Out.

Moving out has always been a dream of mine. It started when I was 12, when my own father abandoned me with my abusive mother. I expected my teenage years to be carefree and filled with happiness. The reality was far from the truth. From the age of 16 I had a part time job, which was useless to me because my mother would collect all the money from the paychecks. When I graduated high school I decided to take a loan and use that money to move out. I chickened out last minute, thinking my relationship with my mom would change due to me being in university. Things got a little better but it was still a very controlling and toxic environment. When I was 19, my mother developed an extreme shopping addiction racking up quite the debt. I decided to get a side hustle, which sometimes would make me earn around $3.5k a month. All the money would just get wasted for me paying her debts and Ubers so I can get home before my curfew (around 10 p.m as a 20 year old who had night classes). It was still super toxic and I could never express my opinion or concerns..

Fast forward to October 2018, I was surfing the app called Roomi in which I stumbled on my roomates profile. Her profile was super compatible with my lifestyle and we had similar interests. We were the same age and attend the same university, even speak the same language (Russian) I took this as a sign the universe was telling me to go through with it. As of today its been 8 months since I have moved out of my Mother’s house. I still sometimes struggle with my mental health but moving out has done wonders for me. I am way happier than I was a year ago, I am surrounded by caring people and I have way more friends. I work hard and support myself 100% with no handouts from my parents. I hope this entry, inspires teens and adults who are stuck in toxic households and question their lives after they move. It gets better. You can do this.

I just turned 21 a few days ago which comes with a brand new lists of goals and dreams. Hence I decided to start posting once again on WordPress and take you on my journey to self improvement, love and acceptance.

Summer Reading List

This summer I want to catch up on my reading (like everybody else) and work on making daily reading a habit. I will mostly focus on self help/improvement books but I do love fiction and mysteries as well so those categories will definitely be on the list!! Feel free to post your recommendations below 😉 I made this in July but never published it until now? Gotta stop procrastinating!

10 Ways to be more Confident

  1. Push yourself! Face our fears
  2. Don’t the past get in the way// Focus on the present!!
  3. Write it down- Write down your goals/dreams ambitions 
  4. Talk to yourself – Prep talk is the best talk
  5. Take good care of yourself – Get enough sleep, eat the right food, exercise, cut out toxic people of your life. 
  6. Get enough sleep
  7. Kill negative thoughts
  8. Prepare yourself – Sometimes we just need to practice certain things such as presentations and difficult conversations to be more confident
  9. Smile
  10. Push through self-limiting ideas – YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Afternoon Routine

A continuation of my “Ideal Routine Post” to help you create an outline of your ideal routine! Feel free to remove/ add stuff as you see fit!

  • Try to go for a walk at lunch. Even one little lap around the block or campus will reenergize you like nobody’s business.
  • Be friendly to friends and strangers. A smile goes a long way.
  • Utilize the “touch it once” approach. This is truly life-changing! When a task is in front of you, no matter how big or small, just do it right then and there. How many times have you gotten a work email or homework assignment and thought, “Eh, I’ll do it later”? And you forget, or just decide not to do it all? Once something pops up, do it once. Squash it and be done. Cross things off your list and feel like a badass!!
  • Drink water. Drink water. Drink water. Drink water!!!!!
  • Be present. This is so hard for me too, but you have to make a major effort to be present in whatever you’re doing. Be engaged and plugged-in and just exist in the moment. Give 100 percent!!!
  • Eat something. Eat what you packed for lunch  and take a break from working while you do it. You need “you time”!

Ideal Morning Routine

Ever wonder what your life would be like if you lived up to your full potential? Would your body be healthier? Your skin clearer? Bank account bigger?

I have specific goals in mind for myself, and you guys should make some too!

  • Do not hit snooze!
  • Stretch. First thing. Really give your body enough time to wake up. Touch your toes. Roll out your shoulders.
  • Brush your teeth and floss. I used to be a big floss-skipper too, but you will be amazed when you witness the results. Rinse with a whitening mouthwash, to really make your teeth shine!
  • Do your full skincare routine.  Be gentle and consistent.
  • Give yourself enough time to get ready. Whether you are someone who spends an hour doing a full contouring routine before class or takes 5 minutes to get ready (and either one is fine!), make sure you aren’t rushing. If you need to wake up a few minutes earlier than normal, so be it. Rushing sets an awful, stressed-out tone for the rest of the day. Allow yourself to be relaxed before taking on the day.
  • Eat something. I’m not going to say eat a big breakfast, because some people (myself included) just can’t eat in the morning. But you should eat, to start up your metabolism and give you energy to start your day off right! If you still don’t have appetite at least bring a little something (like fruit )with you to work or school.
  • Shower. You can do this at night, in the morning, whenever you want. Again, this is something you should allow some time for. I don’t wash my hair every day, but I do condition it every day (from the ears down). Scrub yourself with a delicious-smelling body wash. If you shave, make yourself as smooth as silk, dude. If you don’t, then don’t and don’t ever ever ever let anyone make you feel bad or weird about it. When you get out of the shower, wrap yourself in a fluffy towel and totally slather your sexy self with lotion. Top to bottom. Do it as soon as you can post-shower so it can really sink in.
  • Put leave-in condition throughout your damp hair and comb it through.
  • Put on an outfit that makes you feel good! So important!
  • Drink water. Drink water. Drink water. Drink water!! HYDRATE YO SELF!
  • Take a look at your daily to-do list. Utilise ” Eating the Frog” method and knock out the most stressful stuff first.Take pride when you cross things off your list.
  • Make your bed! Just do it! Your future self will be proud.
  • Exercise.Try to include a small workout/ trip to the gym! Studies have shown that working out in the morning tends to improve our mood and increases out productivity. If you can’t workout first thing in the morning, try going for a walk or somehow incorporate walking in your route to get to work/college/school!
